Is the Sahara hotel in a safe area since it’s in the strip?

I am considering to take a cheap flight to Madrid from the Netherlands where I live, to visit the Prado museum. I am thinking to not take a hotel but to spend the night at the Madrid airport. I was wondering, is it safe there at night, are there restaurants or bars open?
