Garda is a very large lake. You might look at something like these, but they’re not all on the lake, some are just close. http://www.hostelworld.com/findabed.php/…
If you want someplace with easiest access to other parts of Italy, Desenzano and Peschiera del Garda on the south end of the lake both have train stations on the line between Milan and Venice. For the other towns, there are boats on the lake or buses. A couple of very nice places to stay though are Sirmione in the south or Malcesine in the north both are on the bus line from Verona.

I’ve found for you a 3 star hotels near to the city and the lake for only 50€ a day.
look for the “Brione Hotel Riva Del Garda” in the following page:http://www.prontohotel.com/gui/c.php?adu…
if you dont find it, just type it in the search box.
